PADI COURSES – professional sequence


PADI Beginning Open Water
This course introduces the novice to underwater scuba diving. Upon completion, the student will meet the standard requirements established by PADI to buy air fills, equipment and other diving services; engage in recreational diving without the supervision of an instructor; plan, conduct and log open-water, no-decompression dives in conditions comparable to, or better than, those during training.
Requirements: 12 hours class/pool. 4 dives.
Prerequisites: Students must be 10 years old to receive a PADI Junior Open Water certification and 15 years old for a PADI Open Water certification.
Costs: Tuition: $199 (Includes books, certification card, rentals for class and open water use.
Student must provide fins, mask, snorkel, boots, weight belt, weight, and signal devices. Optional hood and gloves. Ask about student discount.

PADI Advanced Open Water
Advanced Open Water certification means that the student can successfully plan, conduct and log open-water, no-decompression dives in conditions comparable to, or better than, those during Basic Open Water training to depths as deep as 100 feet.
Requirements: 5 hours class and pool . 2 required dives: navigation dive and a deep dive. The student must finish three elective dives. Elective dive options:

PADI Rescue Diver
This program teaches the information needed for preventing and handling dive emergencies. Topics include self rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, equipment problems, rescue and assistance procedures for both conscious and unconscious victims on the surface and underwater.
Requirements: 6 hours class/pool. 1 day of diving.
Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent certification. CPR + First Aid training within the past two years. Minimum age of 15 (10 for Junior).

PADI Dive Master
The first professional level in the PADI System allows you to sharpen your diving skills to demonstration quality, gain a professional-level understanding of diving theory, learn how to organize and conduct diving activities, and learn how to supervise divers in training.
Requirements: Classroom, pool and open water training.
Prerequisites: PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent certification. Current CPR training. Minimum age of 18. Must have logged 40 dives to begin the class and 60 prior to completing.
Costs: Tuition: $695 Dive Master Training Package: $299 (Includes textbook, Scuba Tuneup Guidebook, instructional slates, instructor outlines, Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving). Dive master  Video $35. Students must own RDP and ERDPML.

PADI Assistant Instructor
For those interested in teaching, this is the first portion of an Instructor Development Course. The AI rating allows you to conduct certain programs independently as well as continue your experience as a certified assistant. The AI course will also more confidently prepare you for the IDC.

PADI Instructor Candidate
Instructor Development Course consists of two parts. One is the Assistant Instructor class. The second part is Open Water Scuba Instructor class. Completing both parts prepares a candidate to attend an Instructor Exam (I.E.) A.I. can be completed locally. OWSI must be conducted by a course director in one of the East Coast career development centers or locally as scheduled

Deep
This introduction to deep diving covers risk factors, decompression tables, safety stops and emergency decompression procedures, equipment and orientation to recompression chambers.

Dry Suit
This introduction to dry suit diving covers procedures for buoyancy control, ascent and descent and maintenance.

Equipment Specialist
This introduction to new types of equipment familiarizes divers with the operation and maintenance of diving gear.
Requirements: 3 hours class.

Underwater Naturalist
This introduction to the underwater aquatic environment covers myths of dangerous aquatic life, overview of aquatic life interactions, responsible human interaction, and diving techniques for minimizing disturbance.
Requirements: 3 hours class. 2 dives.

Night
This introduction to night diving covers the use of dive lights, buddy system techniques, disorientation and emergency procedures, and orientation to nocturnal aquatic life.
Requirements: 3 hours class. 2 dives.

Emergency Oxygen Provider
This course covers the theory of oxygen therapy, medical oxygen equipment assembly and disassembly, and methods of delivery. Perfect complement to an EFR or Rescue class.
Requirements: 3 hours class.

Search and Recovery
This introduction to search and recovery diving covers limited visibility diving, underwater navigation techniques, object location and recovery, search patterns, lines and reels.

Wreck
This introduction to wreck diving covers preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines, reels and limited visibility diving techniques.

Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent certification. Minimum age 15.

PADI Nitrox
The student will learn proper diving techniques for use with between 22% and 40% Nitrox mixes. Certification allows the student to plan and conduct dives using both Nitrox mixes.
Requirements: 3 hours class, dives optional.

Peak Performance Buoyancy
This course polishes buoyancy control skills beyond the Open Water Diver level.

Ice Diver
This course covers planning, organization procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of diving under ice.

Digital Underwater Photography
This course is centered around today's point and shoot digital cameras. Will help to develop knowledge, skill, and practical techniques necessary to obtain excellent photographs.

Underwater Videographer
Students will develop the knowledge to select an appropriate video system to suit diving needs, to maintain and disassemble video camera housings and lights, and to edit and produce video.
Requirements: 12 hours class/pool. 3 dives.

Semi-closed Circuit Rebreather (Dräger-Dolphin)
An entry level certification course to train the recreational diver in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for using the Dräger-Dolphin Rebreather.
Requirements: 12 hours class/pool. 3 dives.

Underwater Navigator
This course will provide practical knowledge of underwater navigation and how to plan, organize and complete dives using natural and compass techniques.

Altitude Diver
Students will learn theoretical knowledge of altitude diving and how to safely plan, organize and execute no-decompression dives at altitudes up to 10,000 ft.

Multilevel Diver
This course explains theories behind dive tables, computers, and multilevel diving. Students will plan, organize and complete multilevel, no decompression dives with eRDPml or dive computers.

Drift Diver
Students will develop practical knowledge of drift diving and learn to plan, organize and complete dives using safe drift techniques.

Boat Diver
This course covers dive boats, boating etiquette, personal conduct, basic dive boat terminology, local boating laws, and the ability to perform important boat diving skills.

Diver Propulsion Vehicle
This course covers the planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of diving with a DPV. Equipment handling and maintenance are covered as well as techniques to minimize damage to fragile aquatic life.

Project AWARE
This course covers the importance of and interdependent status of world-wide aquatic ecosystems. Suggestions and information about specific actions that may help to conserve aquatic ecosystems.
Requirements: 3 hours class/pool. No dives.

Project Aware Fish Identification
This course explains fish family groupings and common characteristics of fish species found in the local area. Fish survey techniques and strategies for collecting valid data are detailed.

Self Reliant Diver
To develop the skills of planning and carrying out dives without a partner when preferred or necessary.

To qualify and certify to set up, plan and conduct dives with side mount equipment within your present certification and experience limits.

Underwater Hunter/Gatherer
This introduction to underwater hunting covers taking game, equipment modifications, spearfishing, preparation of fish and game, conservation, and local fish and game regulations.

Intro to Tech
Introduces students to the world of technical diving. Familiarizes students with technical equipment configurations, buoyancy, trim, situational awareness, advanced gas planning with no decompression obligation.

Advanced Nitrox Diver
Trains divers in benefits, hazards, and procedures for utilizing EAN 21% through 100% for dives not requiring stages decompression to depths of 150 ft. unless taught in conjunction with deco procedures. Requirements: 8 hours class/pool. 4 dives.
