Divers Alert Network

Divers Alert Network offer FREE DAN Student Membership for new entry-level dive students. The program introduces students to DAN services, provides some protection during the certification process and offers select benefits to enjoy during training. DAN Membership ($35/year individual, $55/year family) comes with a variety of benefits, most importantly Accident Coverage. The membership fee supports a variety of programs that benefit all divers such as:

Do you need dive accident insurance?
Your primary medical insurance may exclude scuba diving and/or may not provide coverage when you travel out of the country. If it does provide coverage, it may pay only a minimal amount for chamber treatments. There are also often large out-of-pocket payments for deductibles and co-pays.

What does Dive Accident Insurance Cover?
  • Hyperbaric Chamber Treatment
  • Physician's Charges for Hyperbaric Chamber Treatment, medical care and surgical operations
  • Ambulance Transportation by Ground, air or marine services to the nearest hospital or chamber
  • Hospital Charges
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment Coverage for loss resulting from a covered diving accident
  • Permanent and Total Disability Coverage resulting from a covered diving accident
  • Extra Transportation Costs for the return trip home
  • Extra Accommodation Costs if medical advice requires additional duration of stay
  • Loss of Diving Equipment Coverage for items cut loose or damaged as a result of a covered diving accident
